I am Peter M. Lopez, a criminal defense lawyer and family law attorney in Sweetwater, Texas.

I have represented literally hundreds of people charged with crimes or who are going through a divorce or custody battle. I have limited my law practice to criminal defense and family law so I can help people in their time of greatest need.

I have represented citizens charged with misdemeanor crimes such as driving while intoxicated (DWI/DUI), family violence, and theft. I have also represented those charged with the most serious felony offenses, including drug possession, manufacturing, and delivery, robbery, sexual assault, and murder. I have tried numerous criminal cases to a jury with exceptional results. I consider it an honor and privilege when a citizen accused of a crime puts their life in my hands.

I have also represented numerous people who have entrused me with the future of their family. I have represented men, women and children at every stage of family and matrimonial litigation including divorce, child custody cases, child support cases, paternity suits, adoptions, parental rights termination cases, and litigation involving state agencies such as Child Protective Services and the Office of the Attorney General.

If you have been charged with a crime, or, if you need a lawyer who will represent you in any area of family law, please call me for a free consultation. You may contact me online or call my office.

Texas Tech Fires Mike Leach

As a Texas Tech School of Law alumnus, I feel somewhat obligated to mention that today Texas Tech has fired Mike Leach.

Leach led Tech to its best year in school history, coming ever so close to playing for the BCS champioinship. Whether Leach actually did what he is accused of, or whether the school is looking for an excuse to fire him, this should be a sad day for Red Raider fans.
