Sweetwater High School Students Get Involved in Local Government

The Sweetwater government will be taken over on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

The Sweetwater High School government class students have decided to shadow different government officials.

"At the beginning of the year, we went through different ideas for our project," Hanna Hunter said. "The idea came up to take over the government."

Twenty-two students will separate into groups of two or three and shadow different jobs. Students will learn how the fire department, police department, mayor’s office and many more function. The point of the project is to help the students understand the tasks at hand, in each office, so that the city and county are run properly and function correctly.

Governor Recognizes Roscoe Wind Project at Renewable Energy Conference

Governor Rick Perry was the keynote speaker at the Texas Renewable Energy Industry Association (TREIA) held in Austin on Nov. 8-10, 2009. This was the 25th anniversary of TREIA as the Governor spoke on the Renewable Industry in Texas. In the Governors keynote speech he stated that Texas produces more wind energy (almost 9000 MW) than any other state in the US. The Governor also mentioned that the largest wind project in the world was in Roscoe.

Nolan County Courthouse Upgrades

Out with the old, in with the new.

The County Clerk's office will be receiving some upgrades that will assist them in the service that they provide.

Nolan County offices slated for improvements include the County Clerk's office, County Court at Law and the Nolan County Sheriff.
